i swear am growing calluses on my ass.
8:10am on the couch. the today show.
9:21am world wide web. couch.
12:15pm check above.
4:05pm almost edge of couch. general hospital.
6:21pm back to the web. back to the couch.
10:35pm sleep. where do you think??!!
i've been back on the island for four weeks now and i'm proud to say, i've accomplished absolutely nothing since i walked through the front door. yes, i've cleaned up the place (am anal, whatd'ya expect??!), showered (ocassionally), dragged myself to the closEST grocery store, removed all the dead plants in our yard and masak lebih kurang. apart from that and my very 'productive' couch related activities, i've done jackshit.
i blame my degenerative behavior on a single human invention called FACEBOOK.
extremely evil and utterly addictive, it is in my opinion, a far worse and greater force than those God-awful terrorists who attacked mr. bush's backyard that fateful morning six years ago. at least osama and co. didn't leave the victims with a choice but to succumb to the unreal and the unimaginable. with facebook, you load up the handgun, point it to your head, wink at the world, and then blow your own head to smithereens. and if you're nearly as neurotic as me, you'd probably be crawling around the floor, wiping off the mess you just made so you'd score brownie points with God, before you finally throw in the towel.
"facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. people use facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet."
i've been warding off invites after invites since march thinking, "eleh, ni mesti sama macam myspace la ni... social networking for budak-budak..." what a complete waste of my time. then one day, out of sheer curiosity and endless heckling by my friends who've already gone over to the dark side, i decided to click on the yes button. in the words of julia roberts in pretty woman: big, BIG mistake.
i don't know what is it exactly that makes facebook so damn addictive and downright dangerous -- could it be that the network operates in such a way that it feeds our kepochi nature in wanting to know what our friends and foes are doing and thinking 24/7? or could it possibly be that it serves as a modern, no-strings-attached "talian kaseh" between old friends and lovers who, before facebook, were too afraid or malu to get reconnected? or is it the inner competitiveness in all of us to always one up one another, to see who's got the most friends?
evil as it may be, i can afford to be addicted to facebook -- i live on an island far far away from civilization. shit just don't happen here. but what about those (i.e. my friends) who can't seem to pry their minds and lil' fingers away from the computer to attend to their day jobs, their kids, their lives? what's going to happen to them? who's gonna save their tainted souls?
i've wasted enough time thinking and analyzing... gotta get back to the couch for more important matters. see you on the 'other' side.

Arnie...
Is facebook that evil??? I still managed to avoid it for now--hahah, not for long, esp. when hubby is not around for the next few days. I've an addiction though, one that I should be ashamed of. I'm addicted to perezhilton website. I don't know why I care so much for those mostly good-for-nothing celebs. Yikes!! Btw, how did you get that guy to pose for you? Only 98 cents short for ransom?? Hillarious!!!
Lembu,
I'm only addicted to air mata kucing.
Thanks for the review. Have not started facebook. Actually, Friendster pun dah tak cukup masa and tak de mood nak layan. He he. I just find blog-hopping is already distracting enough especially when I'm at work (i.e when I am away from my ever-curious little munchkin kat rumah, that is!). Enjoy your "couch" time lady! No more of that (and many more) for me for the time being. Take care.
jom main scrabulus?
*poke poke*
i need help too.
what? no posts on your travels??
amy,
am addicted to perez too!! ape nak jadi kita ni... i was just telling someone the other day that am no longer a person of substance. all i know now is, "where's the cheapest place to buy chicken, what's on tv tonite, which handsoap to buy so my hands stay baby soft." boleh? btw, i didnt take that pic, stole it from the internet... thought it was farny :)

izzat,
if you think blog hopping is addictive... then don't try facebook. stay away while you can!!!
mom,
bring it on!!! eh, tapi... siapakah identity anda yang sebenarnyer... invite me lah :)
nicole,
wait... it'll come!! i was never very diligent at writing about my trips... the best parts are always in my head, indescribable type of things. i'll write about the bad/ugly parts then. hehehehehehe :) ok tak?
i still don't get facebook man!!! i really don't get what's up with the vampires, zombies, etc. you just had me at the invite! Have not moved much more than that.
But seriously bitch you need to get a job!!! I can't seriously think this is it for you!
my so called life dearest,
oh no no... this is definitely not 'it' for me. i made jam tarts today and watched lionel richie gyrate on stage last nite. am leading a very full life, thank you very much. now, if only i can do my nails for cheap here... then am set for life!
muhaahaha!!! you need to come over woman -- am losing it!!!!
why get a JOB?????? you are living on an island, and can make like one with your couch and the evil Facebook! I COVET YOU!
yes, i am smitten. and am determined to KILL all creatures on FC.... muaahahahahahaha! (as you can tell, my job has been getting in the way, so only can FC at night, hence BLOGGING is so dead for me at the moment!)
i want to invite u but i think ur profile is on private, cannot search. how la? i'll drop u an email soon and all will be revealed... chewah..
i cannot agree with you more..facebook is blardy addictive! i can be working on my work seriously for 10 mins and would excitedly clik on another IE window to check if there's a new friend request, or message or new wall posting, whatever lah..and that happens in like every 30 mins..pathetic huh?!!hiyoo..when is this craze going to end!?
Yes, it is evil - UNLESS you ignore all those incessant applications your friends keep inviting you to add. Initially I had tons of rubbish cluttering my profile, then I decided, woi, tak de kerja lain ke aku nak lawan vampire lah, nak jadi jedi lah, nak tanam bunga lah, nak tunggu gift eggs to hatch lah, yadeyadeya - so I threw out most of the pointless apps, and now Facebook is a much more pleasant experience, a place to find and keep in touch with old pallies. :o)
But like you said, you ARE in Bermuda after all. Wait lah until you get pregnant! ;)
